Who is Susanne Bantel?
An upcoming female actress, i hope…
Berlin, the greatest cultural extravaganza that one could imagine? (David Bowie)
I have never wanted or planned to live in Berlin. I would always choose smaller cities/towns over bigger cities. I am from Mainz originally. But I finally got here by accident and detours and something just felt right to me from the beginning. I never felt so free, independent and full of possibilities. The lust for life was calling. My open-minded personality suddenly bore fruit and connecting with others never felt so easy. And, yes, these cultural aspects offer a lot of variety such as different people, food, events… but the greatest? I really don’t know. I got to see more countries and their cities. My goal is to see London, Valencia, and Scotland this or next year! Extravaganza… I love the beauty of the timeless buildings here and, even more so the creative, beautiful and like-minded people who are active in film, theatre, music and so on who get together here at one point at a time. So, Berlin, you’ve definitely been the right choice for me in my life situation today.
Que sera, sera – whatever will be, will be – the future is not ours to see? (Doris Day)
Our fate lies in our own hands. No one can predict the future. But I really believe we have chosen the tasks we experience in life in order to develop into the direction we chose to go and we have to feel the feelings which help us find our path to live the authentic life we are wishing for. So, when I call my card reader in really in bad situations (for example after my mom died from cancer) she helps me confirm the answers I already have in my subconscious and shows me a totally different point of view. Sometimes, we are so stuck we just can’t see the answers and possibilities right in front of us. I’m also very into astrology. Astrologers just talk about energies, so it’s always up to us whether to go with the flow or not.
Invest in your hair? It’s the crown you never take off?
I don’t really invest a lot of time in my hair in everyday life. If you are looking for a great one: Patricia Piatke, works as a freelancer (@la.isla.salon), she is the one! Hair is one of THE symbols for feminity. And the symbol for self-empowerment we see on the news as well these days.
Any book you read to the last page that was an interesting book?
The Never Ending Story is the only book I really read. It is very wise. My favorite citation: “If we stop being childlike – we are already dead.” Kids – to me – stand for enthusiasm, curiosity, joy, playing. They speak their truth/mind and show us their true feelings. They take risks. All of which we continue to get rid of through the years just to protect ourselves from possible disappointments, rejections and so on. But the most important lesson of this book: Never lose your power of imagination and always believe in yourself. You create your own life and world!
What’s the best advice someone gave you?
“The souls recognize each other”. This tells a lot about our natural intuition and inner knowing, especially when we meet/see someone for the first time. It takes away the superficiality in general. We can’t really choose who we love. It just happens. Whether there is something indescribable or not. And it has nothing to do with your looks.
Lack of charisma can be fatal?
To have charisma can be a curse, but it is a huge blessing as well. I would not like to be described as uncharismatic. There is a direct connection to attractiveness. It is something you either have or you don’t. A lot of people long for it or want to be around people with charisma. So, if you are charismatic, you got to be careful about who you attract. And sometimes it is even important to set and also protect your boundaries! Because where you find light, you will also find moths…
What do you love about leaving people voicemails?
I actually prefer short text messages which are on point. I never left anyone any voicemail. I want to talk to a person directly face to face and enjoy the time and the talk. Or I just push the green button and call someone directly. That’s it.
How do you, uh, break up with a great guy?
I have no experience with breaking up with someone, to be honest. I just quit a lot of jobs!! You can’t believe it. Maybe a little similar. But the jobs weren’t great I guess ;). So, why would I break up with a great guy? I only know situations where I had to tell someone I am not interested in getting to know him better after the first date. Very tough task to say it in a nice way but to also make a clear statement. So, if you know a sentence which is clear about that case but friendly as well, please tell me and I’ll copy and paste (if it will be…hopefully . NOT… necessary again).
What 3 superpowers do you wish you had?
1) A ‘comparing myself to others’ blocker 2) Patience & trust 3) A scanner of truth
To know the intention of someone right away to avoid manipulation. Additional superpower: a “falling asleep right away” button ;).
Change begins at the end of your comfort zone? (Roy T. Bennett)
The question is: what exactly is the comfort zone? The ways we are used to think and behave, special patterns we repeat? Lying to ourselves and not opening up to our actual feelings? Going more for supposedly safety in life rather than risking something because we are afraid that we could ‘fail’? And in the end, we are dependent on a job or a person and don’t want out and lose that comfort. I don’t think I really met the comfort zone yet, though there are some things in life I finally got to do and have never done because I was too afraid of the consequences. Change and movement is life. But you also need to be very brave to make a decision and to commit to something. I think that’s my task and I would have to step out of my personal ‘comfort zone’. So, that zone is different for everyone and you never know in what shape it will materialize.
